Valentine one v1 1.8 pop 2 euro radar detector. There are no other radar detectors like this one. The arrows which tell the direction the radar is coming from sets this radar detector apart from all others. This feature along with amazing range and sensitivity make this the best detector on the market. This is a great radar detector that works great with no issues or problems. This is an amazing radar detector at an amazing price. It is a euro mode, pop 2 version 1.8. (3.858) which is the latest and greatest out there requiring no upgrades.
I bought this from a high school friend since he was down on his luck 6 months ago. Now, unfortunately i’m there with him. I’ve decided to sell this radar detector and my beltronics 955 back up detector due to financial reasons, otherwise, i would keep them both. This comes with what you see here. The v1, power cord, and windshield mount.
Who wants to be my valentine? Cost of average speeding ticket: $150, price for. When compared to other detectors i’ve had, the valentine blows the competition out of the water. Many dispute this and grumble about the cost it is a slight.
Investment, equal sensitivity (utter nonsense) and ease of user interface (there is none it’s equal), but then again i could be just biased. The valentine one is a state of the art radar and laser detector as well as direction finder. This unit is best that is available to civilian markets. This unit does an outstanding job at detecting radar and laser, far before it’s competitors. It also tells which band of radar it detects, how many radar signals are out there and the signal strength of the strongest signal of concern. But wait there is more! This is the only radar detector that actually tells you from what direction the offending radar is coming. All the competitors do a decent job of detecting radar. Some even do a good job of discerning police radar from storefront false alarms.
However none can tell you where they are coming from. The valentine displays signal direction via an arrow system that indicates if the signal is coming from the front, side, or behind. This invaluable added information aids the driver in eliminating certain signals since the only signals of major concern are those in front or behind.
This is due to the fact that radar and laser cannot measure speed perpendicularly (or close to right angles). Speed can only be measured accurately from on coming or departing traffic. Direction can be displayed because the valentine has 2 microwave feed-horns (antennas); one in the front and one in the rear of the unit.
It measures the time and strength of the signals and calculates a direction (a simplified triangulation). It also has 2 infrared “eyes”. However due to the nature of laser, if the unit detects a laser, it’s pretty much too late to do anything about it. On the other hand, radar signals tends to travel and disperse over much greater distances thus generally giving the detector greater “warning” and the driver more reaction time. Tell me of another company that offers that kind of support!
The newer model’s height and weight was slightly shaved off (they relocated the front ir eye and miniaturized/consolidated the electronics package). I have noticed enhanced radar detection at greater distances throughout the bandwidth with the latest (1.8) version of firmware. The controls are same, as they always have been.
Volume is easily controlled by a knob and they have improved the 3 logic modes in. Which are used to filter out false alarms (bogus bogies). Beeps vary in pitch and frequency with regard to band and signal strength. As previously stated the unit also visually cues band, signal strength, direction and signal count (up to 9 signals). In cases of multiple signals the unit flashes direction, signal strength and band of the signal of greatest concern. I do care about you as a customer. I have 100% positive feedback and wish to keep it that way.
