I have owned other brands of radar detectors, and this one is the best. If you do some research, you will find thousands of other valentine owner like myself who will vouch for this detector the same way. The biggest advantage is the “bogey” system, which tells you which direction the threat is coming from, unlike other detectors that just beep at you.
On highway mode, it is very sensitive and probably would best suit someone who lives in a rural area. Being able to detect a trailing threat is a huge bonus in my opinion it’s saved me countless times. This is the way to go and is a simple process of just splicing into any available red power wire under the dash.
Took me all of 10 to 15 minutes. With this method your accessory outlet (cigarette) is always available and the unit sees less wear and tear from being unplugged all the time. Everything functions 100%, and you can even get updated “firmware” from v1 if you wish. All buttons and features work 100% and are clean.
