Valentine radar detector 1.8 hardware, 3.813 software. The most sensitive version ever made. With the optional concealed display too and new accessories! This unit just was returned to me from valentine research a few months ago - i sent it in for a tune-up, not because anything was wrong with it. I just wanted to make sure it worked perfectly for the new owner… Seriously, once in a lifetime opportunity!
While it was at valentine research i had them install a new case as the old one had a few fine scratches. Basically this detector looks like new and functions better than a new one (more on that later). Most people do not realize that a radar detector is a finely tuned device that over time can (and will) go out of tune and possibly miss alerts.
How many times have you heard a radar detector user say “my detector never went off” after getting a ticket. It is recommended that you periodically send them in to be checked over and retuned if you desire to have optimum performance, especially if you leave them baking in the sun when you park your car (i always removed it). All valentine one units have a software revision number (although they look the same from the outside), these are the “upgrades” that valentine does…
They upgrade you to the newest version… Which is almost always better than the previous except in this unique case.
This was the last software (3.813) before pop protection was implemented into the software -thus making a new software revision. That new software decreased long range performance so it could scan two little segments looking for pop radar. Pop radar is about as rare as winning the lottery and is truly no real threat. Only one police radar company makes it and it has an extremly poor market share, it was such a failure that their new unit doesn’t even have pop capabilities (mpg ranger radar unit).
At first valentine was not going to implement it into the software, it was even posted on his website…… After losing sales to escort who was marketing how they protected you from pop radar and how important it was to be protected, valentine changed his your long range expense. If you want the best, you want a 3.813 software valentine one like mine. These are hard to find, bordering on rare. They were made about 6-7 years ago (this is why i sent it in to be tuned).
If you want the best, you want this one. I bought a newer revision software (3.872) and the difference to ka on the freeway was at the minimum a 1/2 mile. There is a florida trooper who sits under the same bridge a few times a week at night and i did multiple back to back tests and the results made me call valentine one because i returned the new unit to stick with my “old” unit. After this i searched the internet and found out that everyone with a 3.813 unit realized just how good this version is(was). I also tested it against an escort redline….
It annilated it, e that poor thing for breakfast…. And escort has the nerve to claim they have the best detector ever made… Maybe compared to the newest version but simply no where near the truth with the 3.813 version. Then come back when you realize i speak the truth.
Mph industries first introduced pop radar technology (also known as the super bee) in its radar guns in 1999 as a way to defeat radar detectors. Pop mode works by sending out a quick burst of pulse radar at approximately 67 milliseconds. Mph industries admits that while in this mode, that the displayed speed of a vehicle may not be accurate. They recommend that the officer only use this mode to obtain an estimate of speed from the target vehicle, establish a vehicle tracking history, and then switch to normal mode to obtain the exact speed. Therefore pop mode is seldom, if ever used by law enforcement and should not be a major concern as an âimportant featureâ in considering your radar fact, most radar detectors that have the pop mode have it disabled by default, as activating pop on detectors, opens it up to receive a false alerts.
